Electric vehicles are the best way for Ontarians to reduce their carbon footprint. Subsidize the purchase of new EV and PHEV vehicles in Ontario that meet the most strict efficacy standards. Give a greater subsidy if some or all of the car is made in Canada!

How are you going to make up for the 1.9 billion dollars per year that was coming from the Cap and Trade program? And how are you going to achieve the same environmental benefits without spending more money? Amateur leadership is going to mean a one term government.

Cap-and-trade is not a ‘tax grab.’ The money the government received from it was directed back to the people of Ontario to improve our woeful impact on the environment. It enables citizens to improve their homes, and creates a lot of good-paying jobs: win-win. Lire davantage

Carbon fee and divot end!!! We need to protect the environment by pricing carbon, but do it in a conservative way. There needs to be SOMETHING at least. Carbon must be priced.

If we dramatically reduce greenhouse gases within the next 3 years, the resulting “grand economic transformation could bring a $26 trillion economic windfall, create 65 million new jobs, and avoid 700,000 early deaths linked to air pollution ― by a conservative estimate.”. Lire davantage

the economy is important, but it's not top of the list. a livable country now and in the future matters most. this is why businessmen shouldn't run something that isn't a business.

If we assume that the new government intends to introduce new carbon reduction targets (which I doubt), and if we assume that they will introduce and credible and bona fide plan to reach those targets (which I doubt even more), I would ask why we should fix something that isn't broken. Having no incentive to be a clean company is not right. It is like going back to the industrial revolution where factories were able to dump whatever came out of the factories into nature. It is the right thing to make companies pay for the negative impacts they create while doing their business. Lire davantage

This is wrong and absolutely backwards. We need to take concrete steps to move forward on climate adaptation and mitigation, and that includes carbon pricing.

I think the Cap and Trade system is a more effective way of making progress against Climate Cjange than a carbon tax. During the campaign the Preimier never discussed removing the Cap and Trade system (Only a Carbon tax that had not yet been imposed by the federal government). Lire davantage

The only market-based way to reduce greenhouse gases is a price on carbon, either a direct tax or a cap-and-trade system. In both cases, the government can return the income from these to the people, so it is not a “tax grab”. Lire davantage

I do not agree with the cancellation of this act. I think it is an important tax for a cleaner environment. Do something about the profits going into the big oil companies pockets and leave the tax alone.
