I object! The wilderness of Ontario is used by many who prefer not to cause damage. The bears are not dangerous, hiking, and recreating near where bear hunting happens is dangerous. And I would suggest that hunters too lazy to hunt by fair means ought to just flipping stay home. Lire davantage

This should not be allowed to happen. As a hiker, and a wildlife lover, it makes me extremely disappointed to read this proposal. Firstly, I do not agree with baiting at all, in my opinion baiting is not sportsmanlike, and should not be considered hunting. Lire davantage

I say NO to this proposal. Honestly , didn't the Spring bear hunt just end? To bait bears with sugary donuts to kill them is bad enough let alone closer to trails where people and children frequent. Lire davantage

As a potential tourist to Ontario, I am apalled that you even HAVE baited sites for people to shoot bears. You clearly don't realise how wonderful it is to have these creatures around. We don't have them in France, and we would like to. Lire davantage

I object. Move bear baiting sites farther away, the wilderness of Ontario is used by many people, not just hunters and I do not appreciate the garbage/junk left by bear baiters. The bears are not likely dangerous. Hiking and recreating near where bear hunting activity happens possibly is dangerous. Lire davantage

I disagree with this proposal, I think the current rules should be maintained.

Keep the minimum 200 metres requirements please. Not keen on knowing there could be bears being baited so close to where we regularly walk with our dog.

I object. Why would anyone want to place bear bait CLOSER from areas of use by the general public. This is for lazy 'hunters' who are not hunting, just reckless shooting. Why do we allow this to happen.

I object to this proposal and can't fathom why it is being considered. Bear baiting sites should be moved farther away, not closer! This proposal caters to a lazy, inconsiderate mindset, which are not traits you wish to see in those with loaded guns. Lire davantage

The changes are ridiculous. The change from 200 metres to 30 metres is a significant change and does not consider any environmental assessment or justification for it. Lire davantage

It is height of stupidity to allow hunters to discharge their weapons when they are within potential range of human recreational areas. Baiting within 30 meters of a recreational trail will only increase the instances of human to bear interaction. Lire davantage

This is a dreadful proposal - completely unthought through, just catering for the trophy hunters with no concern for either people who enjoy walking the trails or families picnicking or camping in the countryside - or the poor bears whose habitat this is. Lire davantage

It is the job of the government to protect wildlife. Hunters need to be far from human activity such as roads. And baiting bears close to roads will induce the opposite. Hunters should work for their sport, they can walk (more likely ride their ATV) 200 m. Lire davantage

Je crois qu'il est aberrant de vouloir réduire les limites entre les pièges et les sentiers en les faisant passer de 200 mètres à 30 mètres!!! Pourquoi ne pas les mettre au beau milieu des sentiers tant qu'à être!!! Lire davantage

This proposal is great news for bear outfitters and their clients! The 200m bear baiting restriction posed a challenge to both the operators and their clients from both a business and safety perspective. 200m may not seem like a lot but in thick boreal forests, it is very easy to get lost. Baiting bears or any animal in order to kill it is just wrong. The 'hunter' is attracting the bears close to public areas and if the bear manages to avoid being killed, would it not return to find this food source and could become habituated. Lire davantage

Stupidity in action - allowing baiting (which means hunters discharging firearms) within 30 metres of public trails or roads is absolutely unbelievable. I object.
