It is a mistake to repeal daily fines for major polluters. $200,000 maximum fines are nothing to the corporations that pollute our environment the most, and this current government knows this. Lire davantage

This is unconscionable. I know Conservatives don’t believe in science and refuse to believe that climate change is real, so I don’t even know if my comment will mean a single thing to you people. But changing the fine for polluting from $100K per day to a one-time penalty if $10,000 is appalling. Lire davantage

Why does this NOT include monetary penalties for industrial wind turbine pollution?

Using penalty money to subsidize an environmental protection program is the least effective process. Like speeding, drinking and driving, all these penalties and fines do not necessary deter the offenders. Lire davantage

Go out and ask any regular citizen if they want the provincial government to lower environmental penalties. Who gives you the mandate to do this? NOBODY wants you to remove reoccurring penalties, nobody wants cap on fines put in place. Lire davantage

1. Corporations: Any corporation that has failed more than 3x, should automatically be held accountable in court. Laws should be changed to ensure that the damages are severe enough to ensure future compliance. 2. City: I no longer see city staff on the street cleaning city streets. Why? Lire davantage

It is critical that the maximum penalty amounts be DAILY maximums, not per contravention. Otherwise, there is no motivation for the polluter to stop the violation quickly. Further, the daily maximums should at least be as much as the existing daily fine.

I am writing to express a lack of support for the proposed changes to penalties in the Environmental Protection Act, the Ontario Water Resources Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Pesticides Act and the Nutrient Management Act. Lire davantage

“Better for business”? “Cheaper for Business” is more accurate. Certainly not “smarter” for anyone. Once again, Doug Ford is confirming that degrading Ontario for the sake of a few dollars (in the short term, as this will certainly cost us all in the long term), is his only priority. I fail to understand how removing daily fines for ongoing violation of regulations in favour of a single fine is a deterrent? This change is either simply naive, or is an intentional act of the governing party to simply set a price for pollution and environmental degradation. Lire davantage

Bill 132 covers a lot of territory, and the broadness of the scope and various areas of concern are so many in number, it raises the questions as to whether this government is trying to deter people from submitting comments. Lire davantage
