While I'm not a falconer myself, I have met and known several falconers over my lifetime. I believe this is one of the greatest outdoor experiences one can have. It amazes me how a bird of prey will work with man in this way. Lire davantage

Having been actively involved in volunteer raptor banding for several years, I have read the proposed amendments by the MMR regarding wild take. I would like to put forward my strong approval on these amendments. Lire davantage

I support this proposal because wild take authorizations can only be accessed by licensed falconers and I believe this encourages more Ontario falconers to obtain their license through sponsorship vs buying a non-indigenous species.

I am a retired resident of Ontario. and a bird enthusiast. A close friend of mine is a falconer and has explained the ministry’s proposal for amending the wild take process. I would like to see these changes go into effect, as these changes all seem positive to me, for the falconer and for the bird.

To whom this may concern, I have been involved in falconry and the sport since 2011. Falconry is a lifestyle and not a hobby. I was lucky enough to have been awarded the wild take some years back. Lire davantage

I am in favor of expanding the live capture of wild raptors. This will allow falconers to further help and support the wild raptor populations.

Because there is a well-established population of all the allowable birds under the live capture authorization, and it will have no impact on their numbers, I support this proposal. I’m a birder not a falconer but have falconer friends who help with bird banding and are very big into conservation.

Falconers not only should be allowed to capture, but should be able to help train and teach a falcon how to live. They are key to help the survival of these birds. I hope the mnrf will loosen the regulations so more falcons can be saved

This is beneficial for the well being of these birds. The catch and release programs are helping with the suffering that these raptors are currently facing.

I think this proposal is fantastic. My Aunt happens to be a practicing falconer in Ontario, and the allowance of one live capture wild raptor a year would greatly benefit her understanding and work with these birds. Lire davantage

I have read the new proposal, and I support the new changes. 25 permits from the old regulations were not sufficient as many apprentices had to wait many years to get a permit from the limited pool of apprentice permits. Lire davantage

As a falconer I’ve been all over the USA to hunt at field meets and many states have a limitless harvest for wild raptors as falconry birds ie. licensed falconers just apply for their permit, trap and are able to release if needed, no Lire davantage

Falconers have played an important role in raptor conservation and by allowing more falconers to have access to wild birds, the MNRF is encouraging more active conservation and citizen science. I support this purposal

I support this proposal. I am a licensed falconer who is very passionate about the sport and that the sport be practiced ethically and legally. The take of wild raptors for falconry has a neutral or positive effect on wild populations. Lire davantage
