I am not in support of capturing animals from their natural habitat for the entertainment, convenience or any benefit that people feel they can derive from it. Why is hunting still legal? Lire davantage

As a falconer, Fish & Wildlife Technologist, and someone who has been involved in both OHC and Project Goshawk events, I am ecstatic to hear of the potential expansion of wild take regulations in Ontario. Lire davantage

We have done enough harm to the wildlife with new housing developments l, displacing many species. If the hawks adapted to they new environment are are flourishing then it means they have an abundant food source which are mainly small rodents. Lire davantage

Time and again wildlife that has been sustainably managed is conserved by those with stakes in the game. Efforts by falconers to conserve and protect a future for wild raptors is evident across the globe. Lire davantage

I concur and support the proposal as it pushes the falconry hobby in the right direction. I truly believe falconers so rehabilitate and increase the survivorship of the approved species.

I feel that increasing the amount of red tail wild take permits and allowing licensed falconers the opportunity to wild take and train gosshawks would produce a higher quality of falconers in Ontario. Lire davantage

This is a barbaric practice to take a healthy, thriving wild animal and to capture him or her so that they can do "tricks" for a human. Humans have lots of other outdoor hobbies they can partake in; let's leave wild animals out of our hobbies. Lire davantage

I do not believe any raptors should be taken from the wild for falconers regardless of the species status. They should only get them from established captive breeders if they must. Wild birds of prey should be allowed to fly free and breed safely, without the most intrusive of predators — man!!!!!

I ask that you not allow the expansion of the taking of raptors to include goshawks. I further ask that Ontario reexamine the taking of any raptors for hunting companions as it is an unethical practice that can endanger species as risk such as peregrine falcons. Lire davantage

I do not agree with this proposal to expand the taking of raptors from the wild to be used by falconers for private use. Let them rely on existing captive breeding populations.

Harvesting wild raptors for a sport that can use captive-bred birds instead is ridiculous. Lire davantage

I believe a wild raptor harvest is a good idea. The amount of raptors in the wild will not be affected by the small amount of falconers in Ontario. Lire davantage

My brother has been a falconer for many years. He has been active in supporting hawk studies his whole life - i.e. - hawk banding, kestrel nest box projects, and promoting bird of prey awareness to the public. The best ally for birds of prey are people who love them the most, especially falconers. Lire davantage

I do not agree with the take of wild raptor species in Ontario. There are enough captive bread raptor species available now and to prevent poaching and the resurgence of a black market falconers should continue to purchase their birds from licensed breeders. Lire davantage

My husband has been a dedicated falconer for 17 years. He is an avid conservationist and has always respected all wildlife. My husband has been quite disappointed these past few years with the draw as he has only had success once in 7 years. Lire davantage
