My brother has been a falconer for over 20 years. He has explained the draw system to me where it is difficult to plan and make preparations, in anticipation of winning the draw for a wild take bird. Lire davantage

We are totally opposed to the amendments in your proposal We strongly believe that wild birds should remain in the wild environment and not be captured so that humans can have fun (however traditional, etc. etc.) with them. Lire davantage

The Northern Goshawk is not a common bird in Ontario. Fewer and fewer are being sighted every year. This is a statistical fact and is born out in the data from decades of Christmas Bird Counts. To allow falconers to remove birds that are already in short supply is nothing less than scandalous. Lire davantage

I do not support this proposal. I do not agree with the take of any wild raptor regardless of species status wildlife should not be taken from the wild for sport.

I’ve been a falconer for nearly 20 years, having access to Wild Take northern goshawks again is an incredible opportunity for us. Grateful for the conservation efforts put forth by the MNRF, OFAH, and OHC.

I believe this proposal is a huge step forward and will improve what is currently a somewhat complex and slightly unfair system (some people have waited years with the current lottery system before being selected for a permit or not even getting selected at all). Lire davantage

My father has been a falconer for approx. 30 years. I've seen first hand the passion that he has for this and the awareness around conserving these important species that he's raised in others. Eliminating the draw is a huge improvement. Lire davantage

My friend and colleage is a Falconer. Falconers have played an important role in the management of bird damage in grape crops on our farm. I think it is important that Bird of Prey conservation is allowing more falconers to have access to wild birds encouraging more active conservation. Lire davantage

I think will only encourage the taking of juveniles by individual who have the intent to sell. I base this upon the observation of individuals with cages in the back of a pickup truck driving around a nest site during fledging. Lire davantage

Why, when we already have such a fragile ecosystem would this even be proposed? It seems preposterous for this even to be a thought. We have already depleted the wildlife in Ontario greatly, let's not further do so, please do not let this pass. Let birds stay wild. Lire davantage

My family and I have learned more about Ontario raptors from falconers than from any other source. Supporting falconry by expanding the live capture of wild raptors will increase public awareness and thereby conservation.

I fully support this proposal because I know it will greatly benefit all falconers in Ontario. One of my best friends is a falconer and she keeps me updated on this topic.
