Falconers have played an important role in raptor conservation and by allowing more falconers to have access to wild birds, the MNRF is encouraging more active conservation and citizen science. Lire davantage

Hello Ministry of Natural Resources, I am a family member of an avid falconer and support the proposal that would expand access of wild raptors to qualified falconers only, following rules and regulations. Lire davantage

My father and some of his friends have been falconers for over 40 years. I have grown up watching my father and his colleagues raise, train, and bring these birds back to health when needed. The time, care, and dedication these falconers have for these birds is second to none. Lire davantage

I have family that has been training and hunting with birds of prey for as long as I can remember. Ontario does not have a lot of falconers but has done a phenomenal job with their falconry club and how they protect these birds. Lire davantage

I support this proposal because falconry as an inscribed intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO is an important lifestyle for many Ontarians and trapping wild raptors for use in falconry is something that has been practises by thousands of years.

As an individual who has never been involved in falconry, I can provide an objective and non-biased comment to this proposal. As a current veterinary student at the Ontario Veterinary College, I can provide a comment that is considerate of animal welfare. Lire davantage

I strongly believe that the new proposal for wild take rule modifications will contribute enormously to the future of Ontario Falconry. I am for this proposal and what it represents.

Eliminating the draw is a important improvement. It enables all apprentice falconers to be able to trap their first bird of prey which allows them to really immerse into the biology of the species in the process. Lire davantage

One of my colleagues is a falconer. I know how passionate she is about the sport. During the time Ive know her she's had a wild trapped red tailed hawk and a wild trapped coopers hawk. Lire davantage

Yes, I support the enhancement proposal to falconry stated within Environmental Registry Ontario # 019-1806. I had been exposed to falconry from a young age when my parents brought me to bird of prey exhibits and eventually by my father who practices the art. Lire davantage

I support this proposal. Many young birds die in the wild in their first winter. Falconers know how to care for the birds. They handle them In a way that they can always be released into the wild. These birds are healthy, well cared for and respected for their natural ability.

I am totally opposed to the proposal to increase the live take of birds of prey from their wild natural habitat to satisfy a small number of falconers. These wild birds belong in the wild, where they will contribute their genes to the continuation of a healthy natural population, not in captivity. Lire davantage

I support this proposal, as Falconry is an old traditional and recreational sport, as long as the falconers and their apprentices follow these rules and regulations implemented by the government, and these rules does not impact the number of wild lives.

I support this proposal due to the fact that the current draw system disproportionally affects apprentice falconers and their ability to work with wild birds. The new proposal allows for every apprentice to practice falconry with a wild bird. Lire davantage

I think this sounds very reasonable. The lottery system just led to people rigging it by having family or friends apply. I haven't been involved in Falconry in about 5 years now due to living in apartments, but if I am ever to come back to it, getting a wild caught passage bird would be ideal. Lire davantage
