I am totally opposed to the amendments to the hold trapping laws in Ontario and everywhere. Holding style traps risk catching unintended animals as well as the intended ones and causes extreme pain and emotional distress to any and all animals who stubble into them. Lire davantage

Snares are inhumane and negatively impact all wildlife and sometimes even pets. They are so inhumane that they are banned in most European countries, yet Ontario continues to be ok with archaic inhumane practices with little regard for animal welfare. Snares should be completely banned.

Snares are not humane traps. They have been banned in most other civilized countries. They are indiscriminate and cruel. Ontario should ban them immediately.

According to International Humane Trapping Standards of which Canada is supposed to be adhering to, these new recommendations are wrong and snares should be banned. Lire davantage

Research findings which are referenced should be published on the ERO page so Ontarians can make informed comments. Trapping laws need to put animal welfare first and should be guided by current scientific findings. The commercial fur industry and its guidelines have no relevance here. Lire davantage

It is time the Ontario government steps up to this century. There are other ways to address this problem that does not involve animal torcher. Remover snaring as an option for anyone! Look to the furbearers association for help with the answer to your problem.

The proposed changes are just a way to continue snaring wild animals. Snares are inhumane and often trap wild and tame animals in horrific agony. It's time to ban snares altogether as many other concerned countries have done.

To be more civilized trapping animals should be a thing of the past. There is no reason to aquire animal fur in this highly technical world than can replicate any fur or skin with no difference physicaly. It is left over from the Victoria era. Lire davantage

Any changes to the current regulations, should be driven by animal welfare concerns and involve scientific data, and not be based on a request from the fur industry, who only have one agenda and that is to protect and maximise profits. Lire davantage

The use of snares in Ontario should be abolished not amended to suit trappers. This is inhumane and causes great distress to the target animal as well as unintended victims. We need to be cognizant of a wolf animal’s right to live without the threat of torture.

I would like to know where the science is behind these proposed changes since it certainly looks like it only helps the trappers. Where are the changes to increase safety for all others not meant to get caught in these traps? Lire davantage
