I am very opposed to the Special Economics Zones Act. It allows the Cabinet to create zones where any kind of project can be designated and exempted from any provincial law. There is no legislative oversight and even Provincial Parks are not excluded. Any place in Ontario can become Lire davantage

While I agree that the province needs to have well thought-out development that enhances our infrastructure and economy, as a province we need to be very careful about how and where these projects are approved and placed. The Special Economic Zones Act (Schedule 9) would grant unprecedented powers to the Provincial Cabinet and could allow corporations or individuals to avoid any laws and by-laws in entire areas of Ontario. I am not in favor of the government getting a blank check to go into green areas for development. The Green Belt should stay as is. Let's look at seeing what can be accomplished for affordable housing within our major cities.

I am uncomfortable with supporting development , example, housing , in environmentally sensitive areas. Prior to developing those areas repurposing industrial sites, and other abandoned sites, and/ or structures should be considered before use of virgin or semi virgin land areas.
