Do not consolidate the Conservation Authorities. They are already covering too much ground with too little resources and powers for sustainable development.

Boundaries are divided by political boundaries/regions, not watersheds. Conservation and flood management seems to be deprioritized compared to streamlining the development process, which is not a component of conservation authorities.

In a world where speed and progress overrule ethics, we are not surprised at this proposed conservation authorities amalgamation. It saddens us to see a government claim consideration for the environment while shipping off its local expertise to downtown board rooms.

This merger is only being pushed so that developers and builders can become the overseers and craft the regulations to make it easier to build. It will result in job loss while stripping away much needed regulations that keep rich developers in check. NO.

I am extremely happy with the Hamilton Conservation Authority.
HCA does not need to be managed by another level of government.
I feel that those of us in Hamilton will be short changed by the proposed merger.

I live in the watersheds overseen by Quinte Conservation and am well aware of the essential work this Conservation Authority and nearby Lower Trent Conservation oversee. The staff members are literally boots on the ground, in the wetlands, and on lakes and rivers.

The Friends of the Salmon River - established for over 20 years - is a community-based group working to protect the health of the Salmon River watershed. We urge you not to proceed with the amalgamation of Ontario’s 36 Conservation Authorities into seven regional Conservation Authorities.

I fear that this proposal will inhibit local initiatives and concerns regarding local environments and watersheds. In some cases, larger organizations are not more efficient or effective, nor will they save money. Please rethink this policy proposal.

If efficiency and improved conservation techniques are the goal there are other changes that can be made. Standardization of processes and holding authorities accountable can be done while maintaining local control.

As a Hamilton resident, I do not support this merger proposal. I am an avid user of these trail systems and appreciate the stewardship and advocacy done by our local conservation authority. This mirrors the conservative approach to government, merge to cut costs and then reduce service.
