Biigtigong Nishnaabeg has an outstanding land claim. Biigtigong Nishnaabeg cannot support the creation of economic zones within its territory until such a time as our land claim has been resolved and all environmental concerns have been addressed. Lire davantage

I oppose Bill 5. I do not support a bill that removes democratic process and years of input and study regarding environmental protection and stewardship! Laws are to be followed and bill 5 disregards the public process and experts hardworking to protect our environment! Lire davantage

The “Special Economic Zones Act” screams corruption. Allowing the government to identify “trusted proponents” which can operate with little to no environmental or social oversight is is akin to opening the Greenbelt to a small group of developers. Not again.

This bill should not be passed. The government should not have the ability to bypass existing laws and environmental protections, simply because they declare that a region is of particular economic interest. Lire davantage

I strenuously oppose this Bill, not only for the unconstrained impacts to our environment that it allows, but also the opportunities for corruption that it introduces, even greater than those identified and suspected around the Green Belt fiasco. Lire davantage

This bill is an egregious abuse of power in the name of capitalism. It is not in the best interest of Ontario residents, it's nature, nor it's wildlife. The only people this bill benefits are already rich and powerful enough that they don't need any additional assistance from the government. Lire davantage

This Act would provide almost dictatorial powers to the provincial Cabinet, allowing them to create law-free zones, where provincial and municipal laws do not apply. The same law-free status could be provided to any project or proponent. Lire davantage

The proposed Bill 5 makes it evident that the current provincial government is only interested in the active and systematic dismantling of decades of progress in Ontario on protecting our land and environment for future generations. Lire davantage

I strongly disagree with Special Economic zones as written. There are no details about what can or cannot be simplified. We have a number of regulations and procedures that have been enacted over time to protect the environment, workers, property rights, etc. Lire davantage

I oppose the Special Economic Zones Act, which would allow the government to bypass environmental, labour, and Indigenous rights protections. It gives too much unchecked power to cabinet and creates zones where public consultation can be ignored. Lire davantage
