I am concerned that this transfer will result in the loss of environmental protection and harm the habitats in Wasaga Beach. This is one of many initiatives that is prioritizing profits over protecting the earth and its inhabitants, including people. Lire davantage

Ontario parks are designed to be enjoyed by the community. In a cost-of-living crisis, the government should feel ashamed of itself for proposing the sale of 60% of this Ontario park for development. Lire davantage

Our land is not for sale. Wasaga Beach is already so busy and overcrowded, to add more infrastructure to attract tourists, but remove beach space would be detrimental to the area. This also sets a terrifying precedent. Lire davantage

This plan proposal is an abomination to one of the largest freshwater beaches our country has to offer. The so called economic benefits only serve a select few and fatten their pockets (including our premier) while the environmental impacts are completely disregarded. Lire davantage

If this transfer goes ahead, I believe it is of upmost importance that the proposal includes conditions that will ensure continued Piping Plover conservation and habitat protection. Lire davantage

I was just at Wasaga Beach this past long weekend. People use every part of that Park. The beach, the green space the trees for shade. The air is much cooler where we have green space driving from the place I live to Wasaga beach, the air quality is much better. Lire davantage

While the town of Wasaga appears to be supportive of the Piping Plovers, the amount of resources and protections needed to ensure the Plovers not only survives, but thrives, needs the help of Birds Canada. Please protect this provincial park and all beings that live and enjoy the beach.

Regarding opening up sections of the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park for potential development or for that matter any other use than what it is presently is short sighted planning and abusing the original designation of this land . Lire davantage

Selling off or ceding to a municipality ANY part of a provincial park is unconscionable. Our environment is under severe stress and we, the people of Ontario need to have as much of it as possible protected from the greed of developers. The lack of forward thinking is appalling. Lire davantage

What’s happening at Wasaga Beach isn’t just another local planning fight. To push this development through, Ontario plans to amend the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act — a law that was designed to keep our parks safe from precisely this kind of commercial land grab. Lire davantage

To whom it may concern, After reviewing the suggestion to change ownership of the land at Wasaga Beach, I have some concerns and comments regarding its future management as well as the protections that will be put in place to maintain the current delicate ecosystems and species within the land. There are other means of driving economic growth. Please do not take land away from our provincial parks. Preserving the natural dunes and habitat of our native species is important. Lire davantage

A beautiful beach is for the public, not dedicated to developers. There is lots of non-park land for developers, but only limited shoreline let alone limited beach in a protected park. Development should be outside of parks.

Please allow for the development of Wasaga Beach without selling off the land that is currently part of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. For decades, developers have been coming up with plans to redevelop the main strip and bring it back to its former glory without success. Lire davantage
