The changes proposed are incompatible with Canada’s commitment to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity. Species like the Northern Bottlenose Whale rely on protected marine corridors that could be disrupted by deregulated industrial projects. We are witnessing ecological collapse in real time. I do not support this proposal. Rather than significantly weakening protections for species at risk, this government should be safeguarding biodiversity, respecting Indigenous rights and ensuring local communities benefit from the ecosystem services that nature freely provides. Lire davantage

Repeal Bill 5! Restore all protections for Ontario’s endangered species. This is the only thing to do to protect the future of our environment, endangered species and the people of Ontario.

Choosing to implement the species conservation act after the repeal of the endangered species act is incredibly harmful to ecosystems in the province we call Ontario. These changes are performative and just overall not enough when measured against the repealed endangered species act. Lire davantage

As a science professional working in this province, I am concerned with the apparent weakening of our species at risk protections in the name of speeding up development. Species at risk are at risk for a reason. Lire davantage

The drastic scaling back of the protections for the species at risk and the delegation of the responsibility for Ontario's native species to the federal government is a dangerous and damaging precedent to set and risks causing permanent damage to the biodiversity and ecological well being of the pro Lire davantage

Repeal bill 5! Disgusting that the people who have been put in charge of taking care of the land and the environment do the opposite. Absolutely horrendous

Please do not pass this horrific bill. These species are at risk and need our protection. More protection, not less. I firmly believe that if the average person in Ontario was aware of what this bill entails, they would protest, too. I am vehemently opposed to Bill 5. Thank you, Lire davantage

Renegging on protections for 106 endangered species during a climate crisis is grossly irresponsible. We, as Ontarians, should be doing everything we can to protect said species and the habitats to which they belong. It is our moral duty to participate in environmental stewardship. Lire davantage

As an Ontarian, growing up I felt such pride in our provinces conservation efforts. Living near the greenbelt has fostered a tight connection between myself and the local wildlife and ecosystems. Now being an adult, and seeing this proposed act, I’m disgusted and disappointed. Lire davantage

I'm disappointed that our government has made this move and aren't doing more to protect endangered species who are integral to our ecosystem. Please reconsider.

First of all and above all, I am very strongly opposed to the rationale of economic development ahead of all other considerations that is evident in Bill 5, and in the changes it makes to several other Acts of Ontario. Lire davantage
