Each consservation area manages an ecosystem that is idiosyncratic to that area. An amalgamation such as proposed reduces each conservation authorities ability to assess and resolve issues specific to that area.

I firmly believe that Lakehead Regional Conservation Authority should not b amalgamated with any other area. It is much too far away from other areas and has a large area of jurisdiction already.
This is ridiculous. Amalgamation takes away the local connection that people have to the conservation areas. As a long time camper at a local conservation area I will seriously reconsider if this causes my fees to increase to a level comparing the park I’m at to one with many more amenities.

I agree with our local council in opposing the proposal to amalgamate our Conservation authorities with other entities. Amalgamation will only further diminish what Conservation Authorities are supposed to do. The Ontario Government has already a very poor history of protecting our environment.

I have always supported the efforts of the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority. I have been coming to Grey County since 1962 from Toronto, bought my first property of 75 acres in 1978, and retired to North Keppel, again on 75 acres in 1998.

As a resident of Burlington, Ontario, I am deeply concerned about this proposal and strongly disagree with it. Environmental protections and conservation work are vital. Strong local decision making and watershed work is necessary to maintain our environment and mitigate negative impacts.

No. Joining the conservation authorites is NOT a good move. Its too big of an area and the main focus of the said authorities will be lost and the enviroment will suffer.

Amalgamating Ontario’s conservation authorites risks undermining the very purpose they serve. Conservation authorities are rooted in local watersheds, local knowledge, and long-standing relationships with communities and landowners.

The local conservation authorities should absolutely be left alone and reducing any conservation authority or district is ridiculous. Conservation Authorities do so much for environmental protections and they should not be reduced or amalgamated. This will be an environmental disaster.

The proposed changes will erode accountability and local services, impose significant costs on taxpayers, and cause delays for landowners, builder and developers.

The current Conservation Authorities know the areas they cover and the unique needs for those areas. Amalgamation has not made any thing effecient nor saved money. Leave the Authorities as they are, they are designed to protect our sensitive environmental areas
I agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community.
This is a terrible idea and I’m shocked by the idea it is to ‘improve’ anything. My drinking water is protected in kingston by the conservation area and the organization is a model of a trustable well-run organization that should be left as is to continue its excellent work.

The boundaries of the new amalgamation areas are too far. It’s not even the same type of forest in the north vs south Boreal to Carolinian. How do we expect one group to monitor the health of such a vast area? The forest deserves a voice that is relevant.

The Conservation Authorities are way outside their mandates. They have been acting like enviromental activist rather than the legal authourity they are supposed to be.
