We need to protect our environment and ecosystems. If decisions are made that are going to damage the wildlife and species living in green space this isn’t a decision that can be easily reversed and corrected.

I find it appalling that one would propose we cut back on environmental protections for the sake of building. Perhaps it would be better to streamline building permits and focus on cutting down the cost to build for individuals instead of removing protections on wildlife.

As a life-long resident of Ontario, I vehemently and fundamentally oppose this proposal. The current approach to conservation is complicated and lengthy for a reason - if it was not, it would not be remotely as effective at conservation. Read more

I am outraged by the proposed dismantling of the Endangered Species Act through the so-called Species Conservation Act, 2025. This is a blatant attack on environmental protection, handing power to developers at the expense of Ontario’s most vulnerable species. Read more

I strongly oppose Bill 5 and the proposed interim changes to the Endangered Species Act, 2007, as well as the introduction of the Species Conservation Act, 2025. This is one of the most alarming and anti-democratic pieces of legislation ever put forward in Ontario. Read more

To build a healthy and resilient Ontario, we need a strong Endangered Species Act that protects imperiled species and ensures communities can benefit from the many ecosystem services that nature freely provides.

Interesting proposed changes. Streamlining between provincial and federal to reduce duplication could be efficient. The change of the definition of habitat reduces the protection needed by species. Read more
