I oppose the plan to amend and ultimately repeal the Endangered Species Act under Schedule 2 because the proposed new Species Conservation Act 2025 (Schedule 10) will empower the Cabinet to override scientific evidence when making species protection decisions. Read more

This is a short-sighted effort to allow developers to profit off of areas that are already in critical decline. We need the “red tape” to ensure that natural areas are maintained, as many of these habitats are natural barriers to ever increasing weather extremes. Read more

As a grassroots, environmental activist and Indigenous ally, I strongly oppose this legislation and I'm appalled that a Government of Ontario, supposedly acting in the best interests of its constituents, would suggest that Bill 5 is the best way to protect Ontario’s economy. Read more

The current US president will be long out of office before any mine is operational in the Ring of Fire. There is more to animals' habitats than the den or tree in which they live. If the forest or grassland around that den is destroyed---then what? Read more

Bill 5 would have devastating implications to the environment and wildlife we cherish and have worked so hard to conserve. Our land, waters & wildlife must be a priority of our provincial government. You have been given the trust of your voters--Do not destroy that trust!

I oppose Bill 5. I want strong environmental protections for endangered species. I oppose short cuts for industry with no public oversight. I oppose overriding the law in special economic zones.

More importance needs to be given to the protection of our animals and plants in the area. If this proposal is passed, we would see more demolitions, land clearance and buildings coming up everywhere. We are creeping more and more into the territory of the animals. This is unfair to them. This proposed legislation has several flaws. Primarily, it may well be unconstitutional. In particular, the provisions for "Special Economic Zones" clearly do not provide for adequate Indigenous consultation, and I highly doubt they would survive a court challenge. Read more

Please do not allow this to pass. The wildlife needs to remain wild and when there is human-wildlife conflict, we often wonder why? We think, oh there must be something wrong with it. No. They have no where else to go. They have to encroach into developed areas. Read more

I am writing to express my deep concern and strong opposition to Bill 5, “Protecting Ontario by Unleashing the Economy Act.” This bill will cause direct harm to essential ecosystems, endangered species and critical waterways, while threatening Indigenous rights to free, informed and ongoing consent. It would be irresponsible to allow for unchecked development as we are wreaking havoc. We cannot sacrifice our children's futures for economic gain. We must continue to protect endangered species and not modify the act.

There are ways do doing things right. We need biodiversity we need wetlands to help or environment. We need local farms we don’t want to buy imported vegetables we want to support our farmers.
