The York “Regenerative Recycling Facility”, now landfill, was decided to be put on a 0.8 hectare lot north of Dresden Ontario on 21 highway. The York 1 company has made the facility sound like à great thing that will benefit the community. But this is not the case. Read more

I live in the community of Tupperville in Chatham-Kent. The Sydenham River cuts through the village. There is a bridge which connects Baseline Road to County Road 78 and is heavily used by trucks. Read more

The proposed landfill would be situated near Molly's Creek which feeds into the Sydenham River, which in turn feeds into the St Clair River. Operation of a landfill this close to a sensitive watershed endangers many endangered and at-risk species, some of which are only found in this area. Read more

This proposed exemption of an environmental assessment for the Dresden Landfill has negative implications for the town of Dresden. The increased traffic flow would damage our roads and bridges, and cause noise and air pollution. Read more

The town of Dresden has a unique cultural and historic past. It is the terminus of the Underground Railroad and the site of the Dawn Settlement. The value of our town as a tourist destination would be impacted by the presence of a landfill as large and close to the town as is proposed. Read more

Dresden is a town which we are proud of, and has the largest Christmas Night Market in Ontario. We have branded Dresden as Ontario's Christmas Town. We hope to attract new residents and businesses to our thriving town. The location of this landfill will deter development of new homes. Read more

I live in Chatham-Kent near the Sydenham River. The proposed landfill would pollute Molly's Creek which runs into the Sydenham. Molly's Creek overflows often, so it would be affected by the landfill . I am in opposition to this Landfi. Read more

I am against removing environmental assessment requirements for the York 1 dump under any circumstance, even if quote “due to the threat of US tariffs impacting Ontario’s waste sector”. If they obtain it, what stops all the other dumps in Ontario from requesting a waiver? Read more

Without an environmental assessment there will be no way to repair the damage after the fact done by the Owner of the property York1. The things that a EA would stop from happening are as follows: Contaminates from leaching, contaminating wells used for drinking water adjacent to the property. Read more

Crazy that this type of project could potentially go through without a proper environmental assessment. Think of the impacts it will have on the town, the environment, the waterways, the ecosystems. It should not be located so close to a town to begin with. Read more
