Consolidating our conservation authorities will only serve to take decision making out of our communities. While I can't say that our smaller conservation authorities are perfect, they bring so much more care, service, and impact into our communities because it's their community too. Read more

The idea of this is ridiculous. The conservation authorities have been stripped down as it is. We are removing the experts from specific area and going to cause issues with a multitude of side effects. How will information be gathered on flood conditions? Read more

I believe it is important to keep the "regional" aspect of the conservation authorities. The differences in our landscapes, and the communities impacting the natural spaces requires more specialized, local knowledge that these proposed, much larger authorities. Read more

I am against the proposal of regional consolidation of conservation authorities. The stated purpose of consolidation to modernize operations, streamline processes, standardize permitting and administration can be achieved without eliminating local conservation authorities. Read more

I think the amalgamation of CAs into just 7 regional bodies will be a net negative for Ontarians. We need to keep the decision making at the local level especially when it come to the environment. Each CA has unique local context that will potentially get forgotten or lost in the amalgamation. Read more

I frequently go to the Little Cataroque Conservation area all year round. It is a very well used place and very well run with many special events. An amalgamation would threaten what is an excellent area with excellent programming.

Locally based decision making and accountability is important for Conservation. The reason for this amalgamation has not been justified. The HCA is one of the Hamilton city departments with a positive track record of responsiveness and success. Read more
