Allowing this policy to pass would go against listening to the environmental experts and advocates in the field to prioritize power consolidation and efficiency to destroy our natural habitats that protect us from environmental damage. Read more

This is a horrible idea and I do not agree to this proposal. This has negative environmental impacts which will affect Ontario residents physical and mental health as well as result in poor economic growth.

Revising the boundaries to make fewer and larger conservation authorities is a VERY BAD idea. Local watersheds should be managed by local authorities who have studied their local areas and know their local needs. Conservation areas like the Essex Region are incredibly valuable and rare. Read more

Thank you for the opportunity to comment. Any consolidation of conservation authorities should prioritize watershed integrity, maintain strong local input, and ensure no reduction in flood protection, natural hazard management, or environmental stewardship services. Read more

Being a person who was brought up in India, it is in floods and water shortages that watershed mismanagement usually bring about that i can truly appreciate the step that Ontario is taking in increasing its conservation authorities to larger watershed based conservation authority. Read more

I recognize the goal of reducing administrative duplication and strengthening accountability. However, consolidating Ontario’s 36 conservation authorities into seven raises significant concerns about environmental oversight and local knowledge. Read more

Our local experts know our area intimately and it will take years for someone else to learn enough about the Essex Region to make informed decisions about things that are deeply concerning to our residents. As a local resident, I disagree with this proposal.

l'm deeply dismayed at the lack of respect for our democratic rights when protective laws and local municipalities are not respected. Bill 5 showed a total lack of understanding and respect for biodiversity. The response to us was insulting to public intelligence. Read more

I'm sad to see your rationalization for the changes to the Conservation Authorities. I believe that reducing the number of conservation areas will lead to a lack of awareness of water issues, spreading the staff too thinly to effectively care for the area. Read more

About time!!! I've worked with 6 different CAs over the years on development/rezoning issues, and there is no consistency. I will also say at least 2 of the ones I've interacted with operate as "who you know" authorities, letting bad behaviour slide with hefty charitable donations in place. Read more

I do not support the proposal to merge Ontario’s conservation authorities, including the RRCA. The RRCA provides strong, community-focused environmental services that rely on local knowledge, local representation, and close municipal partnerships. Read more

We have an obligation to ourselves and the planet to do our part, environmentally speaking. To keep our corner of the room clean. To measure twice, cut once. It takes longer and maybe more resources up front, but it saves heartache, work and loss in the long run. Read more

As someone who studies environmental science. Getting rid of ERCA in Windsor Essex sets us back for conservation efforts and watershed management. We are surrounded by river and lake watershed management is so important to ensure public safety, floods and water quality.

I am concerned about the amalgamation of Ontario’s conservation authorities. I have had dealings with our local authority in Sault Ste Marie and they were knowledgeable and aware the particularities of the conservation land adjacent to our property. Read more

We do not need the extreme environmental policies up North here in the Thunder Bay and District. Merging the Kawartha Lakes and Lakehead Regional Conservation Authority will add more beauraucracy to this regoin and we do NOT need any more of that! I am 100% against this merger!
