On the surface, this proposal seems prudent, in that it states that it will free up resources. However, the plan to consolidate the province’s 36 local conservation agencies down to just 7 is alarming. Read more

Ontario's education minister eyes more possible school board takeovers as Bill 33 passes. This is a further indication that the Ford government wants to centralize power in ways that reduces municipalities' local control. Read more

Essex County is home to many delicate ecosystems, Lake Erie, tall grass prairies and world renowned Point Pelee. To propose consolidating these areas is a move to sidestep years of work, protection and economic growth. These programs are sustainable and promote the areas rich history and diversity.

I strongly oppose this proposal. It is obviously another Ford initiative to circumvent environmental assessments in order to line the pockets of his friends. There is little hope that one conservation authority can possibly monitor the entire Lake Superior & Lake Huron watershed district. Read more

I am very concerned about this proposal and the harm it may do in the province. As a long time homeowner in a flood plane, I understand the issues at hand, but I am very worried regarding the issues each conservation area has in regards to the others in the province. Read more

This is Trump style tactics. Doug Ford is worse than Kathleen Wynne. Every thing is focused on short term gains that have long term catastrophic results. This is not progress. This is fast regression. Removing these safeguards and infrastructure is eroding what makes Ontario great. Read more
