Consolidating boundaries will not improve conservation authorities. They do important work and are already focused on large watersheds. Consolidating will take away from restoration, monitoring, and activities related to the health of the watersheds. More funding should be given to them.

While I understand the need for consolidating the conservation authorities in Southern Ontario, I feel merging the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority with ones in Southern Ontario is a mistake. The LRCA is 1,000km away and the geography and needs of the region are not the same as down south. Read more

I DO NOT SUPPORT the consolidation of the regional conservation authorities. Each authority has its own unique level of resources to meet the conservation requirements and goals of its unique conservation area.

No one cares more or knows Northern Ontario like the people that live in Northern Ontario. Why isn’t Northern Ontario in charge of conservation in Southern Ontario or is it because you think Northern Ontario doesn’t know any about Southern Ontario? Read more

Hi ERO, this seems like a poor choice, I would like for these changed to not go through as I believe the conservation authorities are already doing a great job and worry amalgamating them will only make it easier for large and corrupt builders to do as they please with our water and nature systems b Read more

The proposal to merge the LRCA with the Huron Conservation area makes no sense. These areas are over 1,000km apart. Each with unique characteristics that require a local presence and representation. Read more

It seems that you have mistaken Thunder Bay and North Bay again. Why would the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority be grouped with urban centres over 1,000km away? The issues covered by the Conservation Authorities generally need a lot of local knowledge and some boots on the ground. Read more

Once again the Ontario Government is pushing aside the distinction of the North Western Watershed for an austerity measure that completely invalidates the NORTHERN portion of the watershed. As Always the Ontario Government dismisses anything Northern if it doesn't fit a Southern Standard.

As an Ontario resident in the National Capital Region, I can not fathom how the inclusion of the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority into the proposed, consolidated CA would make any sense even if the sole purpose was to reduce the number of independent agencies. Read more

Grouping Credit Valley Conservation with Central Lake Ontario (formerly TRCA) instead of Western Lake Ontario would mean high growth municipalities Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon would no longer be split between CAs. Read more

The Huron Superior region needs a representative office in the south western portion to be effective. Having offices only in Owen Sound and Barrie does not give sufficient voice to those in the southern portion Read more

The proposal of linking the Lakehead watershed authority with those 1300 km away in the Huron lake region is ridiculous. If you are trying to save money, then downsize staff at both sites but the distance between both areas makes it near impossible to regulate.

I am concerned the Lakehead district conservation area is being joined with a conservation area in southern Ontario rather then consolidating with the northeastern conservation area. Northern Ontario has unique challenges compared to southern Ontario. Read more
