I am writing in strong opposition of any changes that will negatively impact Ontario's internally recognized approach to water management by limiting the effectiveness of our conservation authorities (CA). Read more

This proposal does not put the people of Ontario first - it jeopardizes their future. The proposed boundaries will just make it easier for the corrupt Premier to line his developer friends pockets with money while people move into overpriced homes built in flood plains. Read more

I’m worried that permitting will be completed too fast without the proper assessments (ie species at risk surveys and flood studies) which will weaken environmental protection with this new boundary. Read more

This proposal a flagrant attempt to circumvent environmental laws for profit, with the excuse of the economy when people are scared because of geopolitical events. Canada and Ontario are better than this, and this proposal should not be approved. Read more

Board governance. Do not allow this to be municipal appointed board. The work is too important. Board members should be skills based and with CA submit matter expertise. The mistake would be to leave governance as it is today. Read more

I support the concept of consolidating the conservation authorities as proposed. However the services beyond their core mandate should be by willing partners and not legislated in any fashion. Read more

This proposal will slow down conservation. If put into action it would make it harder to manage our watersheds! This will threaten conservation everywhere by allowing them to increase suburban sprawl! No!

I oppose ERO 025-1257 because the proposal to consolidate Ontario’s 36 conservation authorities into seven regional bodies—under a new provincial agency—does not present a transparent problem definition, baseline performance data, or a cost-benefit and risk analysis commensurate with the scale of ch Read more

There are already serious challenges with the current RCA boundaries. Many of the RCAs are headquartered so far away from where conservation needs to be supported (eg set up in towns when the watershed starts many hundreds of kilometers away). That is today. Consolidation can only make this worse. Read more

This government has already reduced the powers of Conservation local authorities. The breadth of their oversight must be reinstated. I do not see how reducing the number of authority areas will yield better protection of the environment. I am suspicious of this change and do NOT support it. Read more

Please don’t do this, it will be worse for watershed management because more things will go unnoticed when there is less authorities managing larger areas. Please don’t do this, keep conservation authorities as they are!!!!

Conservation authorities are very important for caring for their watersheds and the communities within them. Speaking from my own experience, I worked in both amalgamated and non-among conservation authorities. Read more
