I think the conservation authority works just fine. The conservation of our natural areas is most important. The enjoyment of these areas is most important to our mental and physical health. Please don't cut the Conservation Authority services.

Consolidating the Conservation Authorities in a time of biodiversity crisis - while at the same time cancelling the Endangered Species Act - because it suits your ideological bent to develop land at all costs - in a time of mass biodiversity crisis is shameful. Read more

I strongly oppose shrinking the number of conservation authorities. Ontario is having a hard enough time already keeping up with necessary conservation authority work to protect and conserve vital ecosystems. Read more

The frustrating thing about completing this consultation request is the knowledge that unless it agrees with the government proposal it will be ignored. I believe the current government of Ontario is in denial about the impacts of biodiversity loss and climate change. Read more

This is a huge Province with very unique ecosystems. By consolidating the conservation authorities you would be lumping in too many unique areas.... Then use a broad brush when a stylus is necessary to support their needs. Read more

Cutting the number of employees in the conservation authorities is just asking for big corporations rushing in and taking what they want without any protections for nature. I have seen firsthand what aggregates do in my area. Read more

To assume that because the different conservation authorities have different rules/procedures is a barrier to construction approvals sidesteps the issue of whether these differences are because of the unique characteristics of the geographic area covered by the conservation authority. Read more

Ontario’s unique network of conservation authorities was created nearly 80 years ago to reduce the risks of natural hazards like flooding, erosion and drought, and to ensure development doesn’t overtax the local watershed and landscape. Read more

I have been supportive of most of the Ford government’s actions however I am not supportive of this proposal. It is foolish and short sighted. Water management is localized for a reason. The issues and knowledge related to proper management rest in local communities. Read more

Reducing our conservation agencies from 36 down to 7 is a very bad idea. For one thing, the risk of floods will be increased in a world where extreme weather events are increasing in frequency and intensity. Read more

It is completely unacceptable that the Doug Ford government plans to consolidate the province’s 36 local conservation agencies down to just seven. Our province is vast, and needs vary from one locale to another. Read more

We should be strengthening the environmental regulations as this will lead to safer construction and long term growth. This amalgamation seeks to weaken and disrupt environmental oversight, and I disagree with it.

Hello, I am writing to express major concerns for the consolidation of the conservation authorities in Ontario. As Progressive Conservatives you're really missing the mark on CONSERVING the natural environment in Ontario. Read more
