It's really frustrating that the Government of Ontario feels the need to take over Conservation areas, especially when they are already mis-managing so many other departments! Let the Conservation authorities manage themselves independently.

The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority is so far from the Huron region—I can't imagine that it will be well represented and resourced. This seems like a very Southern Ontario centric zoning plan. Why not let Northwestern Ontario continue to manage and direct their work? Read more

leave things the way they are, this sounds like when we amalgamated Anderdon Malden and Amherstburg, it has been nothing but trouble since, all 3 had there own fire department, police and town hall, by merging it make things worse then better

I find this to be a horrible idea; each individual area has nuances a larger authority will not understand nor appreciate. There is no reason to make this change, and I don't see it as an improvement.

I am a front-line engineer working under a Conservation Authority. The proposal describes structural consolidation but leaves several operational uncertainties. The following are some concerns I'd appreciate consideration on as this as it proceeds. Read more

Agree we need to cut number of conservation authorities.Way too many and taking a lot of taxpayers money to fund their budgets. Essex conservation never answers it's phones and is not very helpful when residents have issues to handle Too intrusive. I support the proposal to cut. Read more

As a civil engineer, having access to a local regulatory body is a critical part of how projects get delivered in a reasonable timeframe. Our local CA has been abundantly helpful in their ability to deliver feedback and knowledge based on their local experience working within our watershed. Read more

Please reconsider the proposed change to Conversation Authorities Act. Consolidation of authority undermines local knowledge and the adequate protection of our lands and water. This proposal is clearly only meant to benefit rich developers. Read more

The new proposed reorganization of the conservation authorities with respect to the Lakehead Conservation area amalgamating with rural Southwestern Ontario (Huron region) does not make sense reflecting on the vast geographic distances between the two groups. Read more

This proposal is concerning in that It seems all lands currently owned by individual Conservation Authorities (CAs) will be transferred to the Province. Much of the land owned by CAs has been donated by individuals who may not be happy to learn that the Province is appropriating the land. Read more

I think what you guys need to do is leave your cities and offices, and come to our Conservation areas around Milton, Oakville, Mississauga, Burlington, etc. before any decision is made from a desk away from Nature, trees, contact with ecosystems and habitats, hikers, visitors, etc. Read more

I strongly oppose the proposed consolidation of Ontario’s conservation authorities into seven regional bodies. This plan is deeply flawed, risks public safety and environmental protection, and will undermine decades of locally grounded watershed stewardship. Read more
