Yes, fire a whole bunch of them. Way too many staff in their offices, especially Maitland Valley Conversation Authority. They charge people in the Provincial Offences Court, drag the matter out for years, and get what for it? Read more

This is just so Ford can make his developer buddies richer than they already are at the cost of our environment. By allowing this to happen, we would be continuing to allow this man to enrich himself and those in his circle at the cost of our province's health and prosperity. Do not allow this. Read more

Conservation authorities are incredibly efficient entities especially given the funding they receive. The amount the province provides for programs other than Drinking Water Source Protection is basically negligible and they manage to do excellent work. Read more

We have had a family membership with the Credit Valley Conservation Area for several years. Looking at the proposed boundaries of the new conservation authorities, it seems like the sites that used to be part of the CVC will now be distributed across two different conservation authorities. Every effort should be made to avoid municipalities having very small fringe sections of their municipality in another Regional Conservation Authority area. Many municipalities have had to try and manage, understand and collaborate with multiple Conservations Authorities. Read more

These new boundaries seem arbitrary and don't align with other "regions" in other government ministries. The assignment of Superior conservation with those in Barrie and Owen Sound minimizes the unique characteristics, priorities, and community engagement done in all of those regions.

I think this proposal is both a direct sign of the insanity of the con party and overall a setup for failure to protect some of our most important resources. We are a massive province with massive amounts of shoreline. Read more

Merging 36 conservation authorities into 7 will not provide the level of attention, oversight, and staffing required to be responsive to the needs of the very different parts of our province. The North will be neglected and extracted. Read more

So disappointing to continuously see the true Northern Ontario of the northwest region being lumped into southern jurisdictions which have entirely different ecozones and perspectives. We are not a satellite community for the south to operate from remotely.

Thunder Bay is too far away from other conservation authorities to effectively implement its mandate if it is merged with them. The southern Ontario people should get merged; distances in the north are too great to maintain unity of purpose.

This seems like an oversight of how large Ontario really is. I understand wanting to cut the budget but consolidating the LRCA which covers Northern Lake Superior with the Huron group seems not well thought out, logistically. Read more
