Ontario's watershed approach to protecting residents from the water and the water from the residents through the Conservation Authorities has been the envy of private and public agencies in many areas of the world. Read more

I agree with all the concerns of the Thunder Bay city council and do not wish to see our LRCA be merged and managed from southern Ontario. Our area is unique in many ways that do not align with the Eastern half of the province.

I purchased the annual pass for the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority for the past 5 years. I am against the merger with The Huron Conservation Authority. That is too large an area to be under one Conservation Authority. Read more

Please don't fix what isn't broken. The jurisdiction this agency is responsible is large enough already, I don't see how merging with other authorities will create any efficiencies that would increase service or return in investment. Read more

The premier strikes me as a practical guy but whoever in his government suggested that the LRCA merge with other CA’s in southern Ontario isn’t practical at all. Expand the LRCA’s role in protecting the Lake Superior watershed!

Please reconsider amalgamating the Conservation areas into less, much bigger ones. We have seen in the past that whenever things (municipalities, etc.) get amalgamated, there is loss of services, especially to rural areas. Read more

No, the amalgamation of the conservation authorities is not a good way to save public funds. Where is the research and proposed new organizational structure? How can we make such a broad change without highlighting the pros and cons? Read more

I think it is ridiculous that you are proposing to consolidate the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority which is located in Thunder Bay in northwestern Ontario with ones in southern Ontario. You must know how big Ontario is right? You must realize that this is ridiculous right? Read more

I'm opposed to the consolidation of conservation authorities. I'm keenly aware of Conservation Authorities (CA) and their role in protecting us from natural hazards, protecting water quality, and preserving wild spaces. Read more

As a long-term resident of the Bay of Quinte area, the proposed consolidation of regional conservation authorities is concerning to me. The auditor general recently found that the provincial government "routinely ignores environmental consultations." This in and of itself is concerning. Read more

This looks like the next step in Doug Ford's push to eliminate conservation authorities entirely. He hates them because they protect the environment. He sees the environment and environmental protection as impediments to growth and business. Read more

I am a major stakeholder in this proposed change as I own property and reside directly beside land under the control of the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority. I have read the proposed consolidation plan and am very skeptical that it would have any benefit to our region. Read more

This is just another attempt by the current Doug Ford government to easily put through developers request through protected lands. It is totally transparent and not easily undone. DO NOT SUPPORT. Read more

This is a totally dumb proposal. Ontario Conservation Authorities work by being in the communities that they serve. Combining them into larger regional units will mean a loss of connection and a loss of local knowledge and responsiveness.

As someone who lives and works in rural Hastings County I feel that a merger of Conservation Authorities may not work out as well as you might be hoping. We are going through a Public Health merger here and it has NOT lead to better services. Read more

The Lakehead Regional Conservation Authority's work is essential for watershed and waterway protection and conservation in and around the Thunder Bay Region. This cannot be effectively managed from a site approx. 1500kms away. Read more
