This is totally wrong there is no way proper consultation will take place on any issues in one specific area. What works in one area does not necessarily represent another. There will be less protection of our water land and resources. Read more

Merging the Lakehead Region Conservation authority with a couple in southern Ontario is just preposterous and quite possibly, disastrous for our part of the north west. Read more

I object to this proposal Thunder Bay is1500 kilometers from the area proposed for amalgamation. It is unlikely that the needs of both areas are the same. A distinct possibility exists that the area Thuder Bay aalgaates with will nothave any idea of what the needs of Thuder Bay are.

I am a resident of Oro-Medonte and I live on Lake Simcoe. My business and my family are long time supporters of the work done by the Rescue Lake Simcoe Coalition. Lake Simcoe has a protection plan. We need to stand behind it. Read more

Folding the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) into a huge multi-watershed “mega-authority” risks weakening the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan (LSPP)—Ontario’s only watershed-specific, legislated protection plan. Read more

The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority functions well as currently organized. Do not include this authority in the reorganization of southern Ontario authorities. The reorganization as proposed would hurt the people of northwestern Ontario. Ray B.

I do not agree with this proposed change. Time and time again, power & resources are taken out of the North and funnelled into Southern Ontario. What do those in the South know about conservation & waterways in Northwestern Ontario? Most of those in the South have never travelled past Barrie. Read more

All in all the proposed consolidation of conservation authorities is a very bad policy initiative. It is akin to the Ford government’s misguided “strong mayor” policy, as is solves a “problem “ that only the Ford government perceives. Read more

As our province is larger than many countries, it seems ridiculous to shrink our conservation authorities. It seems like a steady attack on our stewardship groups has been going on for the simple purpose of expediting development... Read more

These proposed mergers and changes to the conservation authorities ought to be scrapped, immediately. The author of the proposal should be fired, as it is completely divorced from all reality and common sense. Read more

Conservation of watersheds is best managed by people who live in that watershed. This is definitely the case for the Lake Simcoe area. Merging Lake Simcoe Conservation into a much larger entity will undoubtedly weaken and impair local governance and accountability and eliminate local expertise. Read more

I think everything should be left the way that it is currently as merging 36 into 7 authorities is going to leave a lot to be desired. There’s no way seven authorities can give the attention to all of the issues. Read more

I oppose the amalgamation of the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority with authorities in southern Ontario. Our conservation authority works well as is. Why fix something that is not broken? Read more
