Why should Ontarians better align the work of CAs with provincial priorities. Are they not there to protect the enviroment and the natural areas for Ontarians to enjoy rather than the whims of changing governments.

Please do not do this. I value the quality of our Rideau Lakes system which is unique and requires specific attention from local people. Why take such a risk to our shrinking wildlife and wilderness. Only to speed up housing and development? Read more

Going from 36 to 7, is too little for the area. As many on comments already, things will be lost in the cracks and the local input will be lost. I understand streamlining decisions, but areas this big, one answer won’t be the answer for all of it. Read more

This proposal doesn't make any sense to the people of Ontario. Conservation Authorities operate on local knowledge and local relationships using strong and consistent principles. There are many ways to achieve efficiencies and improve front line delivery of services without consolidation. Read more

I am deeply concerned about the proposal to amalgamate the Conservation Authorities. The CAs, as they exist today offer on the ground knowledge of their watersheds and there is a concern that with the amalgamation this knowledge will be lost overtime. Read more

As a Biologist working in southern Ontario, I strongly oppose the consolidation of conservation authorities in Ontario. Ontario is unique in that it is the only province in the country that has conservation authorities to manage its land and resources. Read more

If this saves money, and I think it should, I am in. I know first hand how the LSRCA has caused headaches by their inconsistent and unpredictable decisions on building permits, lasting almost a year. We live close to Lake Simcoe and really want to protect it. Read more

I am opposed to this potential change in management of conservation authorities. The management of our conservation areas should be left in the hands of the local boards who are aware of the sensitivity of the properties and have a local vested interest in its preservation. Read more

I’m very concerned about the decision to overhaul and reduce the number of conservation authorities in Ontario. We need to preserve local knowledge of our watersheds and maintain our ability for close, local monitoring so that response times to issues are not delayed.
