Conservation Authorities were set up to protect citizens from dangers of flooding and water contamination, to protect land from over development, and for the recreational use of the public. These are public lands, care of which is very largely payed for by municipalities.

Do not do this as we all know merging several organizations into fewer organizations will loose the oversight, specific and detailed care for those smaller organizations. Do not do this it is not in the public interest.

I am skeptical about this being a good faith move. The Conservation Authorities are independent agencies that have often held the Province accountable for overstepping environmental regulations and concerns.

This is an obvious move by Queens Park to kneecap the conservation authorities and eventually get rid of them entirely. This will lead to larger flooding issues and only serves to make land developers and Doug Fords rich friends even richer.

The amalgamation of the Lakehead Regional Conservation Authority with the Huron authority makes no sense in any capacity. Two different great lakes separated by Lake Michigan and great distance. These areas are so different in almost every way.
