With the consolidation of conservation authorities, how will these organizations be supported with the larger portfolio they are taking on? Will there be increased funding, more jobs to support the workload? Read more

I'm extremely concerned about a mega-regional authority responsible for multiple Great Lakes watersheds. I acknowledge the attempt at financial rationalization, if that's the case, but the risk of loss of unique perspectives is troubling in the extreme. Read more

As a resident of Northwestern Ontario, I am opposed to the Province’s proposed amalgamation of the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) with six other Southern Ontario Conservation Authorities to form the “Huron-Superior Regional Conservation Authority”. Read more

I've yet to hear a reasonable argument in favour of the proposed changes. I understand the Province is responsible for only 5% of the LRCA operating budget so it is unlikely any savings will be realized. Read more

Concerning proposed amalgamation of conservation authorities in Ontario: I am opposed to this proposal because 1)I have particular interest in preserving the water quality of Lake Simcoe, the nearest large body of water to my residence. This lake is under unusual stress due to Read more

Do not do this as we all know merging several organizations into fewer organizations will loose the oversight, specific and detailed care for those smaller organizations. Do not do this it is not in the public interest.

I am very concerned about the proposed merging of conservation authorities. This is taking several steps backwards, making it more challenging for conservation authorities to address local watershed issues. Read more

Absolutely awful plan. You need local people with specific knowledge of the local environment to do the best job at protecting our watersheds and conservation areas. Amalgamation is a recipe for disaster. Read more

I am skeptical about this being a good faith move. The Conservation Authorities are independent agencies that have often held the Province accountable for overstepping environmental regulations and concerns. Read more

This is an obvious move by Queens Park to kneecap the conservation authorities and eventually get rid of them entirely. This will lead to larger flooding issues and only serves to make land developers and Doug Fords rich friends even richer. Read more

The amalgamation of the Lakehead Regional Conservation Authority with the Huron authority makes no sense in any capacity. Two different great lakes separated by Lake Michigan and great distance. These areas are so different in almost every way. Read more
