This proposal concerns me for the following reasons. -Dilution of the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan: A mega-regional authority responsible for multiple Great Lakes watersheds is far less able to maintain the place-based focus the LSPP requires. Read more

I am not in favour of these changes. Centralizing authority seems to be a theme of our current Provincial government. The base assumption seems to be that monetary savings will automatically follow. Such dogma is a sign of intellectual laziness. Read more

Hello, I do not agree with the proposed amalgamation. For the reasons outlined in the article below, I do not approve of this change. The coverage area is just too large. If an amalgamation needs to occur, what about cutting the number in half to 18 authorities? Read more

As a frequent user of regional conservation authority run parks (including seasonal trailer site and membership holder) this plan seems poorly thought out. The ability to manage the regional needs and to provide sound decision making for the local environment will be lost with this proposal. Read more

I do not think you should consolidate conservation authorities. Conservation authorities were created in the wake of a major disaster (Hurricane Hazel, which killed a number of people!) and are critical in preventing another major disaster. Read more

Amalgamating all the Conservation organizations will be a terrible mistake. The areas covered have significant differences that local authorities can better address. We are in an area that our Local Trails organization calls - Gems of Nature. It includes marshland, beaches and oak savannah. Read more

The merger of LRCA with the one in Southern Ontario is nonsensical. LRCA needs to keep its decision making and programming locally for protection of our waterways. I support an independent LRCA even if it would cost me more tax dollars Read more

Stop spending money on illegible license plates, and massive school zone signs, and keep our conservation authority areas at manageable sizes (which should be smaller than Belize). This consolidation is inefficient, ridiculously reckless, and unsustainable. Read more

Contrary to the tag line we received, the proposed amalgamation would remove decision-making power from local experts, creating a disconnect between decision-makers and the communities they serve. Read more

No Ontarian should be at all shocked by Doug Ford's overhaul of the elimination of our province's Conservation Authorities. He has been militantly hostile toward environmental concerns since taking office, doing everything in his power to undermine conservation stewardship since 2018. Read more
