The proposed changes make no sense. They go counter to the purpose of the of the conservation authorities which were set up to protect cities from destructive natural phenomena, mainly floods. Read more

I was shocked by the announcement regarding the combination of our conservation authority with southern ontario, this makes no sense. Who would think this is a good idea? What is the big picture here that's I'm missing? Im not on board with this proposal in anyway. Read more

Once again the province is making decisons that will negatively impact rural areas within the province. Clearly the local voice will be lost; local dollars will feed a larger machine and the small rural areas will not be represented well. Read more

A merger of the existing 36 conservation authorities into only 7 (or any smaller of a number) is extremely shortsighted and reckless. Much like municipalities, conservation boards need to be able to focus on the specific issues that are prominent in the region they represent. Read more

STOP meddling in the protection of WATER, our greatest resource. I live along the Grand River and this is an extremely important water source. Our Indigenous people deserve better from this government. Thank you. Read more

So it seems to me, that the agenda for the government is to make the lands huge enough that it cant be looked after properly, so the government can do what they like. Perhaps, ooop! We built a mega hotel here in this space that was home to threatened species of birds. Or oops! Read more

Keep your dirty greedy hands off our conservation lands. You ruin everything you touch by giving it to rich, greedy, land murdering companies and developers. Keep our green land green so our babies have something to live for.

It is immensely disappointing that there is a shift away from local conservation authorities who live and work in these regions. Centralising them is a short-sighted move to try and save on money in a space where the government should be investing more in, rather than less.

The boundaries appear drawn mainly based on development rather than conservation. I am particularly concerned that the vast majority of the province is covered by the Huron-Superior area, which frankly appears to simply focus on Huron. Lakehead district needs to be maintained. Read more

This consolidation needs to be reviewed further and needs to include more regions than proposed if it will continue through. Ontario is a vast province with different needs based on the terrain and the population density. Read more

My family and I are completely against the proposal to amalgamate the conservation authorities for the following reasons: We do you want to lose local control. We do not want to see CA lands sold off for development. Read more

The amalgamation of conservation authorities will mean the loss of all local democratic control. You simply can not have the same local representation of elected officials for seven organizations that you can for 36. Read more
