You can't just end habitat protection and replace it with solely nest protection! Protected species need an environment to live in and destroying their habitats is not how to protect and maintain our precious wildlife. Once habitat has been built on it's gone forever. Read more

We need to protect our feathered friends. Do not dissolve the Endangered Species Act. Mother Earth needs our voices to be unified and heard. We are in the birds territory. Read more

Our environment is one of our most cherished and important resources. Listen to your constituents!! This is a shady bill trying to be passed during a time that it can be overshadowed by other news. Read more

This proposal gives too much unilateral power to the government to allow them to remove species that are inconvient to them. "The government would also have discretion to remove protected species from the list." Read more

I care deeply about conservation for endangered species. I do not agree with the changes to limit protections to only nesting areas. The habitat these animals need for migration and feeding areas is also important. Read more

This is not just an environmentally damaging policy suggestion, it also lacks proper Indigenous consultation. I am more concerned about continuing to protect lands/environments/species that would otherwise be damaged and/or completely destroyed under this proposal than allow for it to pass!

More than likely we, as humans, have created the situation where these birds have become endangered. Therefore it is our duty and responsibility to protect what we have disrupted. Removing these protections washes our hands of a problem we created. We need to do better.

With the public's taking the current provincial government to task for the Greenbelt scandal and highway 413, it is clear that the people of Ontario have a mandate to PROTECT our natural environment. Not destroy it. Read more

Give your head a shake. Once a species is gone, it's gone forever. People can always find a place to live. They just may have to drive a little further which is a better alternative than wiping out a species in order to build housing or those god-awful towers/condos that are going up everywhere. Everything is connected, including human longevity. Leave the Endangered Species Act and the species Conservation act alone. Just like people, every species needs more than just their immediate dwelling to survive. Read more

So the idea of this new proposal is to kill off the species with illegal activity and then say whoops? How do you propose to put the genie back in the bottle after the damage has been done? You cannot protect the environment or endangered species by fast tracking projects without consideration. Read more

As someone who almost daily has to think, work with or apply for permits under the ESA, this change is ridiculous. Animals are mobile, they need wide spread protection outside of their "den" or "home" so they can access food, water, nesting material, etc. Read more

My primary concern about the proposed legislation is with parties being able to proceed immediately after registering, as opposed to waiting for approval. This creates the opportunity for pre-emptive and possibly irreversible harm to be done, compliance regulations notwithstanding. Read more

We need the endangered species act. During these times of environmental crisis and catastrophic biodiversity loss we need conservation and preservation more than ever. The idea of infinite economic growth is unrealistic on a finite planet. Read more
