We must continue to protect our natural environment if we humans are to thrive or even survive. We can see the effects of climate change. Which part don’t we understand? Promote Ontario native species. Protect forests, hedgerows, wetlands. Our future depends on it. Read more

I am strongly opposed to the changes proposed in Bill 5, The Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025. If passed, this bill would repeal Ontario's Endangered Species Act, 2007, replacing it with a drastically weakened framework for the protection of our province's vulnerable species. Read more

I wish to vehemently oppose this proposal. This proposal will put species at even greater risk and removes the very important consultation work necessary before construction initiatives move forward. Read more

I think the government is trying to make it easier to cause harm to endangered species for the sake of short-term profit. It will clearly be too late to do any type of real assessment after construction has started. I fully understand that housing, roads, etc. are important. Read more

I’m writing to express serious concern about Ontario’s plan to repeal the Endangered Species Act. Weakening legal protections for the habitats of endangered and threatened birds is a major step in the wrong direction. Read more

Stronger environmental protections are more important now than ever. Stop Bill 5. There is a lot of properties in cities that need cleaned up for housing. We do need mining done conscientiously.

I am deeply alarmed and disappointed by the proposed rollback of the Endangered Species Act. This is not only a step backward for environmental protection in Ontario but also a dangerous precedent that prioritizes short-term economic interests over the long-term health of our ecosystems. Read more

From what I’ve read of the proposed new environmental protective act, it’ll do a bad job of preventing species loss. Conservation, indigenous and science-led strategies are the way forward. The new bill would have them take a back seat to industry. Read more

The Ontario government's proposed repeal of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) through Bill 5, the "Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025," represents a grave threat to the province's rich natural heritage. Read more

This is an incredibly foolish, uneducated and uninformed decision made by the people who are supposed to be representing us, the people, and what we want. WE DO NOT WANT THIS!! Read more

This is so wrong. We rely on the government to protect our environment because we know landowners and private citizens will not take this into account unless enforced. There is no incentive for them to do so, especially if there is financial gain from land use. Read more

The endangered species act is extremely important now more than ever. Species need habitat and connecting habitat corridors to survive. We are a part of the natural world and we should respect it! Donna Nancarrow Read more

This is an absolutely ridiculously poor idea. How one would even consider removing such important legislation is beyond me. SERIOUSLY reconsider this decision, we only have one planet !!!
