I strongly believe Ontario should protect habitat for migratory birds. The proposed legislation and the new Species Conservation Program does not do this and instead values economic growth over species at risk. This is shameful. Read more

I oppose Bill 5. We have to do whatever we can to protect our environment. As we've experienced in recent years, the development of our land (concrete) has been leading to worse and worse flooding, outside of the floodplains. Read more

Habitat destruction is not a good long term solution to boost the economy. Habitat destruction, in the long term, is destructive to the economy and everything else we humans need to live healthy lives. What good is money in your pocket if you can’t breathe clean air or drink clean water??? Read more

I think this proposal is wildly out of touch with what is actually needed. The Ontario Housing Affordability Task Force recommendations in 2022 clearly stated that the issue is the poor use of currently available land rather than a lack of land for housing. Read more

I am totally against this proposal. This proposal represents an unacceptable rollback of protections for species at risk, taking us back to before 1971 when only a few upper level members of government can make decisions behind closed doors about which species or habitats to protect or not. I’m opposed to Bill 5. I can’t help but think of species at risk and endangered species, their homes and land needed to support them. Referring to a den or nest as an area and not the surrounding environment is not how ecosystems work. Read more
