I think there needs to be some safeguards in place that will protect the environment and species at risk while also growing the economy. It can’t be a review after development has begun. I would like to see the act kept as it is.

Please, by no means should anything happen to the endangered species act. I do not understand why this is even being considered. As a long time supporter of the Conservative party, I am mystified by this. Do the right thing and always protect endangered species! Thank you

This is a terrible idea for biodiversity in Ontario. By taking away these protections, we are taking away our own future. Humans do not live in a vacuum. We all rely on animals big and small to survive. Once a species is gone, it is gone forever. Does Doug Ford want that to be his legacy? Read more

The proposed new Species Conservation Act will only provide protection for the “dwelling place” or nest. Habitat conservation would only be achieved through voluntary measures or federal government intervention. Read more
