It is clear Ontario needs more housing. However, there are currently developments slated outside the Greenbelt that have yet to be completed. The scarcity of supplies and skilled labour to complete these current projects should prevent the Ontario government from severing protected land. Lire davantage

Please don’t do this. Please take care of our planet and respect the earth. This project is pure evil destruction. There is absolutely no need for it- other than to make rich people richer which is disgusting. Lire davantage

Giving away prime farm land for development would cost Ontarian long term in term of food and clean water security. Government should instead encourage landowners within the greenbelt to invest into agriculture to ensure food and clean water security for Ontarians for years to come. Lire davantage

This is a terrible idea. Housing can be out without ruining the Greenbelt. The government’s assertion that this is needed to spur housing development is laughable. If the government ended exclusionary zoning like was recommended by the housing task force then we would not need any new land. Lire davantage

Although Ontario needs housing to accommodate immigrants and growth, I am vehemently OPPOSED to the use of Greenbelt space. The Ford government had promised NOT to encroach on the Greenbelt. Lire davantage

No. Don't go into the Greenbelt. It's called "the Greenbelt" for a reason. With all the issues with climate change going on, we really shouldn't be 'redesignating' our protected green areas. Lire davantage

This seems ill-advised, environmentally short-sighted, and nakedly capitalistic/opportunistic for Doug Ford to curry more favour with the developers he’s in bed with. I’d rather the green belt be left alone. Lire davantage

There is adequate and sufficient land outside of the Greenbelt to provide additional housing without sacrificing land that is best left undeveloped, hence why it was protected in the first place.

This is a total abuse of power. It will destroy every species at risk to line a few developer pockets. I hope this proposal is fought tooth and nail.by Ontarians. The natural heritage of this province will cease to exist.

There has never been a more important time in history to protect green spaces for the health and well-being of all individuals on this planet. Take land out of the greenbelt is incredibly short sighted and immensely damaging and is a drastic overreach of government. Lire davantage

This government and the Primier promised the people of Ontario that they would not touch the Greeenbelt. It is recognized that there is a need for additional housing, but there is no reason for that to come at the expense of environmental protection. Lire davantage

This is the only available wildlife/green space for most GTA residents and it will not even solve any housing issues. The increase in sprawl will actively deteriorate our quality of life. We need density, not sprawl.
