I was very surprised to find out this is even happening! This MZO process should be quickly rescinded and local municipalities or councils given the right to determine what happens on land that is in their jurisdiction. Lire davantage

This amendment makes the process far too susceptible to corruption. Zoning orders should not be made able to bypass public consultation or environmental assessments. What is to stop a developer or landowner from using political contributions to unduly influence zoning decisions? Lire davantage

I disagree with the proposal shown here. I do not think MZOs should be strengthen in their current form. Cities and residents have a right to be involved in the planning in their areas and MZOs remove that opportunity when decisions are made at the provincial level. Lire davantage

This is a severe erosion of local authority over land use controls. It is entirely unacceptable and inappropriate. The legislature should be strengthening local land use controls and giving local governments autonomy over more, not less oversight and decision making powers. Lire davantage

I believe that the MZO process is too dictatorial for a Canadian or Ontario government to use as it cuts out the true public consultation that is meaningful exchange between the public or residents of an area and the government body, especially the local municipality. Lire davantage

I am VERY strongly opposed to this proposed implementation of provisions in the Planning Act that provide the Minister enhanced authority to address certain matters as part of a zoning order. Lire davantage

Please reconsider this proposal to gut conservation authorities. It should not be made easier for developers to pave over invaluable farmland, forests, and wetlands. This endangers the vitality of our air, our water systems, our plants and animals, and our own health and wellbeing. Lire davantage

Current MZOs are being exploited so I do not agree that they should be given any advanced authority. Local and indigenous communities should be consulted on any project that is going to permanently affect the land. Lire davantage

This is not democracy. I believe the Province will not act in the best interests of a community. Doug Fords heavy handed approach benefits only his interests, developers over citizens. Previously MZO's have rarely been used, once per year. Lire davantage

What is going on in Toronto currently at the Foundry site is the perfect example of why this should not pass. No one person should have the right to make decisions on heritage sites or any site with out the input of the city, community, etc. !

This endeavor is unacceptable. Removing Ontario Cities ability to engage in their own planning is undemocratic, and must not be implemented. MZOs are an abuse of power and are a practice that must be ended. Lire davantage

Why is the provincial government sidestepping local democracy in order to ram through development projects with no proposals or plan? MZOs seem to only be used by Premier Ford in order to benefit his developer friends, screw over the City of Toronto, or destroy protected wetlands. Lire davantage
