Another disappointing proposal by the provincial government to bypass environmental regulations. Ideally policy would focus on reducing waste in general so that more landfills would not be needed. Read more

The overconsumption of Torontonians has lead to dire consequences; consequences that they now intend to dump on a small, rural, farming community. But doing this will lead to more serious consequences for the residents of this small community and the future generations of farmers to come.

Dresden Ontario Dump proposal. Mr Ford we do not want a dump in our town. You should start looking after the people that voted your party in. This dump will do nothing for this town .It will kill property value . It will ruin the river we have going through town . It will ruin our roads . Read more

Great for the province to address waste issues in Ontario without relying on the USA. It will create jobs in Ontario and also decrease pollution as the trucks won't have to travel as far to the landfill. Read more

The proposed location is totally inappropriate for this type of facility. It would be less than 1 km from the town of Dresden. The pre agreed environmental assessment should be fully and properly completed. Valuable farmland would be used and destroyed. Read more

I seriously don’t understand how the government can possibly put in a huge landfill less than a kilometre from a community and not do any type of environmental testing. An environmental assessment was issued in 2024 for a good reason. Read more

I oppose this change. The community was promised a full and complete assessment. The proposed landfill is surrounded by many interconnected waterways and acres of farmland. The potential impact to the food and water supply of thousands is too great a risk.

To me, this proposal would unjustifiably elimiate an environmental assessment, which thus eliminates a comprehensive assessment of the project's potential impacts and risks to water, wildlife, and human health, among other factors. Read more

I strongly urge the government not to remove or weaken the environmental assessment process simply because of issues like odor. Smell can be a sign of deeper environmental problems—air pollution, waste mismanagement, or harmful emissions—that deserve thorough investigation. Read more

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed changes under Bill 5, which would eliminate the requirement for a Comprehensive Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Dresden landfill and instead rely solely on an Environmental Compliance Assessment (ECA). Read more

Bravo to the Honorable Ted Hsu, MPP who has posted the letter he is sending to the Integrity Commissioner of Ontario to investigate Doug Ford and 3 of his ministers in connection with Bill 5 which contains the exemption for York1 having to do a complete EA prior to commencing a reopening of a DORMa Read more

It is totally irresponsable not to have an environmental assessment… there is plenty of other land far away from small towns…why your choosing to put a landfill just outside tiny communities streams rivers is beyond comprehension…. Read more
