The absence of any financial analysis demonstrating the benefits of consolidation is irresponsible. The Province has provided no cost-benefit analysis, no comparative performance data, and no explanation for why less disruptive alternatives were rejected. Read more

I just don't see that this move to consolidate conservation authorities is necessary. As far as I can see, and I was involved in a conservation group when I lived in Oakville, the conservation authorities do a good job. Read more

It is concerning what this could mean, the province should be working with local agencies to improve services rather than steamrolling over them. Working with the province collaboratively is always the best way forward. Read more

I believe conservation authorities have served their main purpose of storm water management. This function could easily be taken over by local municipalities if the Province passed legislation that would overcome the need for this to be done on a watershed basis. Read more

I am strongly opposed to this proposal for all the reasons that have been submitted by environmental experts. For the sake of our children and grandchildren, please do not proceed with this uninformed proposal.

I oppose the amalgamation of the Sault Conservation area/ Sault Finish Nordic Trail system. This has been a successful ski/bike/hike system for many years and does not need the government to step in and take control. Read more

I write to express my opposition to the proposal to reduce the number of conservation authorities from 36 to seven. I am pleased with the resolution of the City of Kawartha Lakes also in opposition of this proposal. Read more

In reading about this, there is data that said that a very low percentage (about 7%) of costs comes from the provincial coffers to keep all the districts operating. That is Ontario tax dollars well spent. Until there is solid verified cost-benefit analysis released please stop this consolidation. Read more

I believe the move to amalgamate conservation areas is unwise and foolish. Our current system ensures for proper staffing and complex understanding of the biologically diverse environments found throughout Ontario. Do not amalgamate our conservation authorities! Read more

I strongly oppose the proposed regional consolidation of Ontario’s conservation authorities. This proposal weakens local, watershed-based decision-making and undermines the ability of conservation authorities to protect water quality, wetlands, floodplains, and natural heritage. Read more
