It is upsetting to read that our 36 Conservation Authorities will be reduced to 6. Each authority is important as each area is unique. The authorities have already faced staff reductions and budget cuts. Enough is enough. Read more

As a resident of Northern Ontario I am absolutely not in favour of this change. As it is it is too hard to receive any information or help. We need more oversight, not less. We have lost a federal region and am feeling our region is neglected in favour of southern Ontario. Read more

Please do not do this. Our Conservation Authorities have been doing great work maintaining our public lands, fostering meaningful relationships with those that border conservation areas, and a host of things that we need them to continue doing. Read more

Regional conservation authorities need to remain the same. There are significant variations in geology, topography, vegetation and conservation concerns throughout southern Ontario. To merge conservation authorities, the unique needs of each unique region will not be met adequately. Read more

It is not a good idea to consolidate the 36 conservation authorities to just seven. This will remove representatives who have local knowledge of their watershed and have rapport within their communities. Without the local knowledge, developmental decisions will not be tailored to each area. Read more

The merging of conservation areas will not only endanger wild life and our natural spaces but people as well. The fast tracking of building inaccessible homes on land that is deemed dangerous for various reasons such as flood plains is irresponsible on the governments part. Read more

At a time when we're seeing more and more flooding, more unpredictable weather, and increasing insurance premiums I'm shocked that the government would consider consolidating and effectively wiping out decades of local expertise on natural hazards. Read more
