The Ford government has demonstrated numerous times its lack of respect and appreciation for the environment. Science matters. Clean air matters. Biodiversity matters. Endangered species matter. Read more

Humans can't survive if we don't take care of our wildlife and ecosystems. Please stop making excuses that our need for infrastructure and homes is more important than our environment.

This is absolutely ludicrous! We need more legislation to ensure protection not less! Development needs to go thru these procedures put into place for good reason. Better to be safe than sorry. Man is the most destructive force on earth! Read more

I am not sure who this is serving aside from developers. This bill is going to destroy ecosystems that can never be replaced. Without consulting experts and heeding their advice, you are giving developers the green light to bypass environmental safeguards. Read more

This proposal will do irreversible damage to our wildlife here in Ontario. There are important acts in place that have kept endangered species protected and the new acts are solely based on political and financial gain within the Ford government. Read more

The proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act is irresponsible at best. As Ontarians I don’t see how anyone can support fewer protections and more access for developers!

I do not agree with the proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act nor the Species Conservation Act. I do not agree with Bill 5. I do not agree with the declaration of regulation-free zones for resource extraction nor real estate development. Read more

The removal of environmental protections and the creation of regulation-free zones for development or resource extraction lead to very concerning destruction of sensitive natural spaces. Read more

A registration first based approach will result in developers and other projects damaging SAR habitat, or not registering their projects at all. Southern Ontario has already seen a drastic decline in SAR as a result of over development and restricted habitat protections. Read more

I do not agree with this proposal and the changes within. This opens up the government to make decisions regarding species protection rather than these decisions being based on science. Read more

Habitat loss is the principal driver of the decline and the disappearance of species, in Ontario and elsewhere. Accordingly, legislation intended to protect and conserve species must also protect and conserve habitat. Read more

Revising the ESA to allow urban sprawl without proper SAR and SWH assessment is wreckless and unnecessary. Building homes is important and a necessity, but it doesnt mean we need to sacrifice proper oversight of species to do so. The ESA has already been weakened by the provincial government. Read more

I'm deeply disappointed in the Ontario government's decision to amend the Endangered Species Act. As a young conservation scientist, this WILL lead to extinctions in the next 10 years. Read more
