IMMEDIATE PERMISSION FOR PROJECTS. That will lead to companies destroying habitats without doing any kind of research on the surrounding area. This is going to ruin our country.

As a grassroots, environmental activist and Indigenous ally, I strongly oppose this legislation and I'm appalled that a Government of Ontario, supposedly acting in the best interests of its constituents, would suggest that Bill 5 is the best way to protect Ontario’s economy. Read more

If the habitat for a species at risk isn’t protected then the species will not be able to den, roost, nest, or breed in the habitat the next year. Habitat protections are critical to the protection of species at risk populations. Read more

The protection of species at risk is very important to Ontario. Southern Ontario has the highest biodiversity in Canada and the new Act needs to be able to protect species at risk effectively. Read more

I oppose Bill 5. Environmental protections and species conservation and protection should be the priority, not social and economic considerations. However, I understand that both are important and so a balance is needed. This is why I oppose the shortcuts for industry that Bill 5 would bring. Read more

As a parent and grandparent I oppose this Bill 5 due to its disempowerment of citizen resistance to the immense negative impact of reducing actual habitat of endangered species and lack of true consultation with indigenous stakeholders with regard to mining and protection of vulnerable communities.
