Altering environmental protections to favour faster turnarounds for development projects is ridiculous and will only encourage habitat destruction. The natural environment is complex and interdependent, time needs to be taken for assessments of habitats and the impact of proposed construction. Read more

This bill is an environmental disaster in the making. It would repeal the Endangered Species Act, wiping out protections for vulnerable wildlife, and could effectively ban solar energy-shutting the door on clean power while forcing Ontario to rely on costly, polluting fracked gas. Read more

As a Canadian citizen and resident of Ontario I strongly oppose the proposed Bill 5. I believe the consequences of Bill 5 would be devastating for our precious ecosystems, the land and the animals that make Ontario unique. Read more

I am writing to strongly oppose Bill 5: the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act and its dangerous proposals, including the creation of Special Economic Zones, the weakening of Ontario’s endangered species protections, and the exemption of the Eagle’s Nest mine from an environmental review. This is possibly the stupidest thing that can be done. You and your party obviously have no other concerns than to cash a cheque from every inch of this province. You and your party are contributing to the destruction of this earth. Read more

I have been sleepless for weeks because of this bill. We should be strengthening environmental protections. If we continue to lose species and plant life humans will suffer. Read more

This is a very upsetting proposal. It is a step back for the province of Ontario. Our province is drastically declining in terms of protected areas and pretty soon there will be no protected areas if we keep this up! Read more
