As a lifelong resident of Ontario, I find this act shameful. I understand the need for affordable housing and improved infrastructure as someone who lives in in the GTA and barely makes enough to cover living expenses. But this act is the completely wrong way to go about mitigating these problems. Read more

This approach is very alarming to me. It seems like there is not clarity around how the exemptions will apply. The point of archaeology is to investigate below ground where you may not know the answer. It doesn't make sense to base exemptions on what we already know. Things will get missed. Read more

I am very concerned that these changes will violate the Treaty rights of First Nations, and as such, I am opposed to these changes being made. From my understanding, these changes will allow the province and developers to sidestep Archaeological Requirements. This is completely unacceptable. Read more

This is bulldozing through protections that are there for a reason just for you to make more money for yourselves and your friends. This is bad for the environment, bad for indigenous and all the people of Ontario who aren't developers (most of us). Don't do it. Read more

Well firstly, this bill is entirely irrelevant if the Special Economic Zones Act, 2025 passes as currently written. The Minister and Lieutenant Governor in Council can implement the changes here or ignore the changes here as they please. Read more
