I would like to see the Ontario cycle plan include at least some sections of the old CP rail line that Lanark county has purchased. It would make an awesome cycle trail linking towns such as Carleton Place, Almonte, Pakenham, Arnprior.
I spend about 600 hours a year riding around the Ottawa area on my bike. I'm excited to hear that some improvements will be coming from the province, and I hope even more will be done in the years ahead.
I read the draft plan briefly and support the initiatives contained in it. I live in a rural setting with many small community in south western Ontario near the north shore of lake Erie's and of course the cycle friendly promoted waterfront trail.
Almonte, Mississippi Mills has become one of the top destination places in Ontario. I walk 1 hr everyday here to Equator Coffee Roasters. It's not just the water falls, the trees, the shops it's the interested and interested people here. The conversations.
The key to making cycling a viable strategy is to make sure all the routes are connected and having the proper infrastructure put in place to allow cyclists to safely use the them. If you build it they will come.
Since you are looking for feedback here is mine! I think your proposal to use part of the Airport Parkway in Ottawa Ontario is a bit short sighted and dangerous.
On road cycling routes, without a physical barrier protecting cyclists, are dangerous. Painted lines on roads are often ignored and are normally meaningless. Painted lines do not change dangerous driver behavior. They only show that the province does not value the safety of cyclists.
I fully support the inclusion of more separated bike lanes on the streets of Ottawa that will help riders safely commute through the city. Please make them *separated* lanes from traffic to ensure safety.

On behalf of Belleville on Bikes, I am writing to express our support for the Provincial Cycling Network, but also our dismay that the network selected omits the Bay of Quinte and the largest population centre from Oshawa to Kingston along Lake Ontario's shoreline, Belleville.
Parry Sound Area Active Transportation (PSAAT) is pleased to learn the province is establishing a province-wide network of connected cycling routes as part of its strategy to encourage cycling as a viable mode of transportation.
First we love the idea of a Province-wide Cycling network. Similar to the network in Quebec which many cyclists from Ontario go to visit. However the existing Region of Durham cycling network as shown has many errors and omissions.

As a regular bike commuter I avoid any roads with speed limits above 50km/h even when they have the painted "bike lanes".
