The government’s consultation rightly focuses on improving housing choice and affordability by addressing lot size restrictions. Ontario can achieve this by removing minimum lot sizes on serviced urban land and replacing them with measurable form standards. Lire davantage

I support the elimination or significant reduction of minimum lot size regulations. As mentioned in the policy review, Tokyo, Japan, allows all types of build forms of housing. This encourages the market to provide a variety of homes to the public. Lire davantage

Minimum lot sizes cannot be looked at in isolation. Need to also remove lot coverage requirements, and use yard setbacks and OBC requirements to create spatial distances between residential buildings.

While removing minimum lot sizes, could potentially increase population density, reduce urban sprawl, improve housing affordability, and reduce municipality's ongoing servicing costs per unit, there are still limitations to how small a lot can get. Lire davantage

There are many studies, one of which by the Fraser Institute last year on the barriers to housing supply in Ontario, that single out minimum lot sizes as being an impediment to housing supply. Lire davantage

I support the complete abolition of minimum lot sizes and minimum frontages. These regulations increases land consumption of human activity which causes habitat loss. Additionally, the increased resource consumption also reduces housing affordability.
