This proposal is an affront to democracy and science. It appears that the Ford government is playing with language and process meant to protect species and habitats. Species at risk must be scientifically determined and protected at all levels of government. Lire davantage

I oppose the replacement of the Endangered Species Act with the Species Conservation Act, 2025. The new legislation will bring about a decrease in the number of protected species, including species of special concern such as the Monarch butterfly, snapping turtle and wood thrush. Lire davantage

I strongly disagree with these changes. They serve to weaken existing protections. You’ll be hard pressed to find many Canadians who value development over protecting our local habitat. These changes only serve Mr Ford and his developer friend’s interests.

I am categorically opposed to Bill 5. Removing species from the endangered species list will trigger catastrophic changes to the land this bill will then sell off to the highest donor. Lire davantage

The proposed amendments to the this Act are irresponsible and will be harmful to the number of species that will not be protected that should have a higher classification than special concern. Ontario is known for its rich biodiversity. This legislation will negatively impact that biodiversity. Lire davantage

All living things depend on each other. Even little birds are important to humans. Not only for their beauty and songs, but how they participate in the web of life. Please keep protections for endangered and at-risk bird species. Future generations will thank you.

Many of the at risk birds have important places in the ecosystem. Removing their protections means that their numbers will continue to dwindle, damaging what is already a broken ecosystem. What is the point of removing these protections? There is no need to further encroach onto their habitats. Lire davantage

We NEED species at risk protected. If they are not protected, neither are we. This leaves for an unhealthy environment of which will collapse in the absence of such species as the number is growing. This can’t happen.

Songbirds are essential to our well-being, and they are in decline. Our Ontario government has historically been a great protector of these precious creatures. Please, keep up that good work and keep caring. Once the singing stops, the song is gone.
