The beaches and natural environment should not be sold off and exploited. It should stay under the parks and natural resources department. Allowing the municipality to sell it off and develop it would cause irrevocable damage to the area. It's a terrible idea.

No. Other than Toronto, every city and region with waterfront discriminates. Before the pandemic St. Catherines barred people from outside Niagara Region from Sunset Beach. Barrie and Oriĺlia charge non residents too much to park at their beaches. Read more

I have been going to Wasaga Beach since I was young. I am disappointed in what is being done to beach drive and beach 1 area. It has always been quaint, fun and enjoyable to visit. It has needed a facelift for awhile now, but the plans are changing the whole vibe. Read more

This land should remain in its current possession. Our protected land continues to be sold and defiled for financial profit. The natural environment deserves to stay undisturbed. I am not in support of a town becoming responsible for this land as it will no longer be legally protected.

My comment is regarding the safe keeping of the natural landscape and ecosystems, and the true environmental impact this tourism boost will have on the land. Who is being consulted to ensure habitats are not being destroyed simply for capital profit. Why are the beach lands being transferred? Read more

I understand that the Ministry has mandated that the transferred areas (Beach Areas One and Two, New Wasaga and Allenwood Beach) must remain open to the public. Where is it stipulated how much of each of area must remain open to the public and for what length of time? Read more

I think it’s very sad that Wasaga beach will be developed this way. We have been going there for Seventy years and enjoying the peace and quiet there. It has been a place for families to swim, picnic and enjoy the solitude. We do not have many places left like this. Read more

My family has owned a cottage at Wasaga Beach since I was a child. The public park land is utilized by everyone. There are tons of people using the beach and the public park land. Our beach and public park land is used to the max, it’s busier than ever. The beach has never been busier! Read more

Selling off half of the beach? Are you people insane? Do you have no shame? Do you get off on being cartoonish villains? I am constantly appalled at the depths this government will go to rid the public of its shared inheritance in the name of making a quick buck for your buddies. Read more

I live in Brockville, Ontario I drive 4 hours just to go to Wasaga beach provincial park beach 1. Please do not develop it. It is a natural wonder. My favorite. Even love it more than Sandbanks. I am waiting to move into a seniors building in Barrie just so i can go for a walk at beach 1 every day. Read more

We should not be selling off public lands. These lands are an important part of our cultural identity. These are also home to endangered species that deserve our protection.

I am not in support of this amendment. Wasaga beach already has enough tourism, the park is important for endangered and sensitive species as well as a protect habitat. It is not certain that the town will maintain these habitats like ontario parks currwntly does. Read more
