The sandy beach at Wasaga is perfect nesting ground for the endangered Piping Plovers. They require protection for several weeks in June. Humans and dogs must be kept away during this time. Fencing to do this must be installed. Read more

I am very concerned about the Ontario government's proposed changes to the management and protection of Wasaga Beach and its impact on the piping plover. This endangered bird species requires the unique habitat that is found at Wasaga Beach. Read more

I oppose ERO 025-0694. Removing Nancy Island and large sections of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park from PPCRA protection is irreversible and will weaken environmental safeguards. These areas protect fragile dunes, wildlife habitat, and species-at-risk like the Piping Plover. Read more

Piping plovers are endangered and must be protected. An important part in protecting them is by conserving their breeding grounds and stopover sites. This means that Wasaga Beach needs to be protected. Not only is it good for the nature, it's also good for people. Read more

I am very disappointed to see that parts of Wasaga Beach could lose the protections provided by provincial park status. In particular, the Piping Plover is a rare bird that deserves park-status protections. Read more

This proposal jepardizes the protection of the best habitat for Ontario's endangered Piping Plovers. This is only one of the species that is protected and stewarded with the provincial park. Ontario has protected less than 11% of it's land, including that in provincial parks. Read more
