It is my opinion and that of many others that I have spoken to that, the correct thing to do involving this problem would be to preserve the original houses that are built there, and use them as housing for the homeless. There are several problems that arise with this current issue.

This piece of land must be utilized. It has sat empty for years. Eyesore and should be used more effectively. The people who are blocking development should be ashamed, could be used more for development.
This property has been empty long enough. Hamilton needs so much affordable housing and the ontario government has fallen short. Sadly not just in this issue but getting this housing project going and completed is a step in the right direction.

This is an incredibly straightforward response. Yes, not only should it be considered it should be actioned. We have watched for 6 years absolutely nothing take over this space whilst having families sleep in tents. We need more housing and we need it now.
I support the city's request. It seems entirely reasonable that this be developed into housing. As someone who lives in the same neighborhood, having commercial and industrial happenings amongst where we live is just part of the living in this neighborhood.
